Live Nation acquires majority stake in Hong Kong's Clockenflap festival and Clockenflap Presents

Clockenflap has officially joined Live Nation.

On 22 March, the global entertainment company announced that it has acquired a majority stake in Clockenflap. The acquisition includes the famed music and arts festival, as well as its live concert arm, Clockenflap Presents. Ticketflap, Clockenflap's partner ticketing platform, will remain as an independent entity.

In an interview with HKFP, Clockenflap co-founder Justin Sweeting assured festival fans that they "still run an independent business" and that the festival will be operating independently "outside of that Live Nation touring universe".

Earlier this month, thousands of festival goers turned up for the famed Hong Kong festival's first run since 2018, making history as Clockenflap's first-ever sold-out edition in its storied sixteen-year history.

Sweeting shares in a press statement: “It was a wonderful feeling seeing a capacity crowd at the festival last weekend – Clockenflap has one of the most positive and open minded audiences in the world. The Live Nation team share our vision for Clockenflap being one of the best city festivals in the world, and with Live Nation’s support and resources, I’m excited for the future of the festival.”

The festival returns this December for a second edition in 2023.
